Hamburger Krematorium GmbH operates two crematoriums, one at the Ohlsdorf cemetery – the largest park cemetery in the world. The two facilities can complete up to 90 cremations per day, around 80% of which are completed on the day of arrival. The emission standards at the crematorium far exceed regulatory requirements. The building which houses the cremation facilities and space for funeral services is also extremely clean inside.
The crematorium needed an option for vacuuming dust from the floor and vacuuming from individual systems on multiple levels of the “technological section” of the crematorium.
A central extraction system offers suction lines totalling 150 metres long that can be connected with nozzles and brushes at different points across three stories.
The suction power is delivered by a 15 kW drive designed for continuous operation. A pocket filter with 4.5 metres of filter surface area cleans the intake air. The extracted material is collected in a disposal container, which is located below the silo and has an air-tight seal. Some systems are also directly connected to the vacuuming system. The extraction system turns on automatically, for instance, when the ash mill is active. It chops residues from the cremation process, and fills the ashes into a container.
