For over three decades, Thedens GmbH in Düsseldorf has concentrated on vehicle repairs and painting. The company paints railway vehicles, for instance, for the North Rhine Westphalian Siemens plants, as well as truck attachments and traction vehicles for leading manufacturers along with passenger cars.
Although the vehicle paints in use today are free from solvents and many other pollutants, painters should not be continuously exposed to the paint vapour while applying the paint manually using a paint sprayer. In addition, the “overspray” should not be able to collect on the equipment in the painting shop.
A type DS 2520 LL mobile vacuum cleaner equipped with a broad, funnel-shaped suction unit helps meet these requirements. This vacuum cleaner was designed from the ground up for operation in GasEx zones 1 and 2 in accordance with ATEX guidelines. This was important because the paint vapours are flammable when they are presented in a defined ratio with oxygen in the air. This is another reason they need to be extracted.
The extracted particles are collected in an extra-fine pocket filter. Coarse particles are retained in a pre-separator, which improves the service life of the main filter. The “HL” version of the vacuum cleaner has a 5.5 kW drive and achieves a high level of air flow. Just like all Ruwac vacuum cleaners with and without explosion protection, it is highly robust and long-lasting.
