L´Oréal is considered a global leader in the cosmetics industry, and maintains a leading position in Germany with revenues of over a billion euros a year. In addition to the core brand L’Oréal Paris, other well-known brands like Biotherm, Essie, Kiehl´s and Lancôme contribute to the company’s success. L´Oréal operates a modern hair and skincare production facility in Karlsruhe with around 400 employees.
Dosing ingredients for creams into mixing containers can produce dust. L´Oréal had already purchased a stationary Ruwac extraction system for one of its mixing rooms, with extraction arms to reach each individual mixer/work area. Then, the company wanted to equip another production area with central extraction.
To ensure redundancy, the company uses two parallel filter systems from the modular DS 6 series (DustEx zone 22) from Ruwac with class M and H cartridge filters and compressed air cleaning.
The extraction is carried out in a “distributed” manner: The filters are located in the warehouse, while the drive unit is outdoors. This saves space and also helps reduce noise levels. The system's other advantages for users include easy emptying of the collection container.
