Clean and safe additive production

Customer: Evonik
Extracted material: Additive
Industry: Chemical
Vacuum: Ruwac DS 1220 (Dust-Ex zone 22)

Evonik AG is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of specialised chemicals. The company produces specialised silicones and organic compounds in Essen, among other products. These are used as raw, auxiliary and additive materials in cosmetics, synthetic materials and foams, as well as in dyes and paints, to optimise their properties or effects.

Problem

Both the end products and many raw materials made with these silicone emulsions are in powder form. Because of this, the various processing equipment needs to be cleaned regularly of powdery residues. The company was looking for a powerful, compact, and long-lasting all-around industrial vacuum to handle the job.

Solution

A DS 1220 type vacuum is easy to handle even in small areas, and the three-phase motor is designed for continuous use. Employees use the vacuum to clean the floor, production systems, and filling equipment. The amply sized filter system (class M, permeability 0.1%) ensures long filter service lives. Because organic dusts can create a flammable mixture in conjunction with atmospheric oxygen, Evonik uses the Dust-Ex version of the DS 1220.
