A leading European manufacturer of LED technology, with headquarters in Germany and ten locations worldwide, concentrates on the development and production of LED systems for the automotive industry. The company focuses on rear vehicle lights.
LEDs and their associated ballast units are mounted on circuit boards made of electrically insulating glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP). Production takes place on boards separated by milling. This produces a fine GRP dust, which is considered a health hazard and must be extracted. This dust can be explosive if mixed with atmospheric oxygen in a certain quantity.
A Ruwac vacuum is permanently installed at every milling plant used to separate the circuit boards, in order to suction and extract explosive dusts (Dust-Ex zone 22). These vacuums use dust class H filters, which can be used to vacuum deposited, dry, non-flammable dusts which pose a health hazard with exposure limits, and carcinogenic dusts. GRP dusts are included in this category. With this system, the company fulfils all occupational and health protection requirements in full. The vacuums are also long-lasting, efficient, and designed for continuous operation.
