Realizer in Borchen is considered a pioneer in additive manufacturing: The company's founders were heavily involved in readying SLM technology for series production in the 1990s. Today, Realizer is part of the DMG Mori Group, and offers a complete range of SLM systems – from ultra-compact desktop devices used to manufacture dentures to all-around systems for producing larger components.
Realizer's mission is to offer customers complete additive manufacturing solutions based on SLM processes. To do so, the company was looking for a compact extraction system to provide thorough, efficient cleaning for its machine work area. The metal dust produced there can be explosive, for instance if lightweight metals are being processed.
The company selected the NA 7-11 from Ruwac. This highly compact wet separator extracts air enriched with metal dust – which can be explosive, if lightweight metals are being processed – directly from the work area. The air flow is first neutralised by being passed through a collection container filled with fluid. There, metal particles sink to the bottom as sediment, while the pre-cleaned air hits the surface in bubble form, and is guided through dust class M or H filter cartridges.
